Our Data Insights Team in the UK is responsible for the development of healthcare data science models and analytics across the UK and Europe. We work with electronic patient record data to support clinical and operational reporting needs of health and care professionals across integrated care systems. We are helping our clients to better understand, manage and engage populations to deliver a higher quality of care at a lower cost, and accelerate and support the delivery of new models of care. Our world-leading technology population health platform aggregates data from multiple sources enabling health and care systems to use this data to identify, score and predict risks, targeting the individual through to population-wide health improvement campaigns and interventions.

Junior Data Scientist role is an entry-level position for those who are new to data science and are developing their expertise with support from the broader data science team. As a Junior Data Scientist, you will support feasibility studies to identify data availability, quality and modeling requirements and dependencies. You will explore, visualise, analyse, discover or engineer explanatory features in high-dimensionality collections of data that relate to clinically, financially, and/or operationally important use-cases using statistical and machine learning techniques.

With support from senior data scientists, you will apply data science development lifecycle methodology as appropriate to the healthcare use case to design, train, evaluate, implement and monitor machine learning models. You will work alongside the Data Insights Team to deploy the model into analytics products. You will communicate the insights, implications, limitations, dependencies, and other deployment guidelines of a model or data analysis result at all levels internally and externally including executive decision makers, end users and technical audiences. You will be responsible for monitoring and maintaining existing data science products ensuring they are calibrated for their target populations and outcomes.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Data Science, Analytics, Mathematics, Statistics, Computer Science, Software Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, Physics or related field, or 4 years equivalent relevant work experience

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree in Data Science, Statistics, Analytics, Mathematics, Computer Science, Software Engineering or related field
  • Good understanding of data science development lifecycle, including design, development, evaluation, implementation and monitoring of machine learning models
  • Knowledge of data science tools and programming languages such as R, Python, SQL
  • Strong interest in working in healthcare
  • Strong communication and presentation skills, and ability to explain sophisticated topics in straightforward terms
